on their website, with nationwide delivery direct to your door.
This is an equally useful service for those whose children
attend school as it cuts out the hassle of endless queues in books shops, and
the inevitable return for out of stock books. We have used this service and can
recommend it.
School Book Exchange
Buy and/or exchange school text books online. Titles are available for primary,
secondary and third level students. Some teacher's handbooks are available from
time to time.
Software
Diskovery
Irish company which supplies a varied range of software for learners of all
ages. We particularly like the computer games which aim to teach young kids
logic, better than the shoot 'em ups by miles and just as much fun.
General Educational Supplies
Teacher's Paradise
It's a home educator's paradise too, with a massive range of materials including
flash cards, posters, games and puzzles, workbooks and other supplies for
teaching subjects as diverse as phonics, maths, languages and art & crafts.
There are educational CDs and software packages for all age groups and a
particularly strong section for science. Lots of unusual things like blank
jigsaw puzzles that kids can draw on and flannel boards with lots of different
themes. Terrific site!
PCET Publishing
There is a large range of colourful and fun posters and charts for primary and
secondary school children on a wide range of topics. The store takes forever to
load though, so if you are on a dial up connection forget about it.
Playbreak
Supply a range of card and board games for learners of all ages, many designed
by the company owner Ania Bhandari. No computer games, these are well made and
carefully thought out games that kids love.
Stationery & Equipment
Viking Direct
Really a business supply company, but lots of stuff of interest to homeschoolers
from pens and pencils, useful material for art and crafts and even furniture and
shelving at reasonable rates. They deliver very fast and right to your door.
