The purpose of this site is to help those considering home education for their children to decide if it is the right choice for their family and to provide a source of accurate and up-to-date information and resources for Irish parents who already educate their children at home.
Are you affiliated with any organisation?
No, we have no affiliation with any organisation in Ireland or elsewhere and are careful not to take a position for or against home schooling, we just try to present useful facts and a wide range of opinions. Our information is drawn from careful review and analysis of publically available sources and from many conversations with educators, with parents and children who have experienced home education and with those who chose a school based education.
The core of the information on this site was gathered during extensive research on the subject for our own family. We found while researching that it was difficult to get balanced information online, with most sites quite biased, intentionally or otherwise, towards what they felt was the 'right' way to educate. This site is an effort to provide a source of non-directional information and is essentially a brain dump of all we learned.
Contacting Us
You are welcome to email us with general comments about the site and its content. However we are not in a position to enter into correspondence with individual users about how their children will be educated nor are we in a position to give advice. In any case pretty much all we know on the topic is on the site already. We have thus decided not to provide our names or offline contact details.
We encourage you to make contact with people who are already educating their children at home or are involved with any home schooling method that you are considering, and have provided numerous links to enable you to so do. While we have tried to provide links to only reputable sources of information, we cannot be responsible for or guarantee the accuracy of the content of any other site - be cautious out there!
